From Research to Action
The 7th Annual HEIR conference will be held this year at Oxford Brookes University on the 8th and 9th of September.
The main theme of this year’s conference is the complex issue of turning our research data into actions that improve institutional performance, however measured. Keynote speakers will examine areas including: learning analytics, engaging with enablers, surveys and using an action orientated approach.
HEIR invites contributors to submit abstracts according to the following thematic areas:
– Learning analytics and using research to improve student learning
– Evidence based decision-making: tools and methods
– Gathering data to demonstrate impact
– Enhancing the student experience
– Moving from research to policy, practice and quality enhancement.
Submissions are invited according to the following formats:
- 25 minute paper
- 25 minute discussion paper/work in progress/workshop
- 50 minute workshop /paper
Session submitted as ‘paper’ should be completed work or at least work with conclusions, discussion papers should seek to raise discussion and thought concerning an issue, whilst workshops should plan to involve substantial involvement of the participants.
Abstracts should be no more than 200 words in length and outline the nature of the session, the methods used, possible session outcomes and if appropriate a summary of the findings of the research. The closing date for submitting abstracts has been extended to May 27th 2014
Oxford Brookes is based in the City of Oxford and is one of the UK’s leading modern Universities. The conference will take place in the brand new ‘state of the art’ John Henry Brookes Building which will be opened in February 2014.
The early-bird conference rate (booked before June 1st) which includes en-suite bed and breakfast on the night of the 8th and conference Dinner at the famous Macdonald Randolph Hotel is £295, thereafter £335. The day rate (not including accommodation or conference dinner) is £95/day. The booking form is available here.
